Supporting FoodCycle is good for you…

  • March 14, 2022

As a registered charity, FoodCycle and our weekly meals rely on the support of companies for funding, local publicity, in-kind donations, pro-bono expertise and volunteering hours. However, our relationships with our supporters and partners are mutually beneficially and here’s why.

Volunteering at a FoodCycle meal

Offering your employees dedicated hours to volunteer can be extremely rewarding for them and a great way to fulfil responsibility objectives. We do understand that encouraging employees to fulfil these hours can be easier said than done. Our FoodCycle meals are a fun and accessible way for your employees to volunteer.

We now offer a weekly meal in 39 locations across England either for lunch or dinner, so your employees can choose when works best for them. There are three different roles to choose from: surplus food collection, cooking the meal, or hosting guests which means there’s usually something to suit everyone.

One of our charitable aims is to encourage friendships by creating spaces for people from all backgrounds and walks of life to have fun together. This is why we like to limit two individuals from one company volunteering together at one meal. That way, your employees will have the chance to meet new people within our wonderful volunteer team and build relationships in their community.

You don’t have to take it from us. Two-thirds of participants who answered the feedback survey said their opinion of their company has improved since being offered the opportunity to volunteer at a FoodCycle meal.

Corporate Engagement Events

The Food Invention Challenge allows a larger team of employees to enjoy the FoodCycle experience together. Your team is split into groups and challenged to create a three-course meal with the surplus food provided. We’re looking for quality over quantity, as the courses will be judged on taste and presentation and a winner will be chosen! These meals are then donated to a local community project.

These events are fun and just demanding enough to make sure your employees pull together. Two-thirds of participants feel that taking part in corporate volunteering has improved colleague relationships in their team.

“Collaborating with FoodCycle as part of the Food Invention Challenge was a fun and thought-provoking day. The whole team had a fantastic time and our cooking skills were pushed to the limit. It was fantastic to have so much fun, give back to the local community and support FoodCycle’s ongoing work. Thank You!”
