FoodCycle Is Reaching More Communities!

It’s been a busy few months at FoodCycle with some exciting new Projects springing up to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past for communities across the country!

It’s been a pleasure to connect with local businesses who have supported us by donating food that would have otherwise gone to waste. We’ve also welcomed local residents to the FoodCycle volunteer family and drawn on the skills of existing Project Leaders in areas where we already had a Project like Newcastle and Birmingham.

In Peckham we’ve added a second day, so the team are now serving tasty meals on Wednesdays and Saturdays to local residents. While the Cambridge and Exeter Projects have made the transition from delivery to Cook & Collect, bringing volunteers and guests back together face to face (maintaining social distance!).

Most importantly, we’ve been able to welcome new guests for a nutritious meal and friendly natter, no questions asked.

From a whopping 80 meals at the first FoodCycle Benwell Cook & Collect session to a warming lentil veggie stew cooked up by the FoodCycle Levenshulme team on a rainy kick-off night, our FoodCycle volunteers have risen to the new challenge like pros!
